Malawi partnership comprises seven organizations: Save the Children
UK, Save the Children USA, World Vision International, CARE, Society
for Women and AIDS in Africa Malawi (SWAAM), Plan and the Public
Affairs Committee (PAC) representing World Conference on Religion
for Peace
HACI Malawi’s mission statement is to implement
and support effective and efficient initiatives aimed at reducing
the spread of HIV/AIDS and improving the quality of life of Malawian
children affected by the pandemic through partnership.
HACI Malawi partners are collectively implementing
activities in ten districts namely, Lilongwe, Kasungu, Nkhotakota,
Salima, Mchinji, Mzimba, Balaka, Mangochi, Dedza and Zomba. Activities
are implemented either directly through partner programs or through
community-based organizations and NGOs. HACI’s main focus
is capacity building for local institutions to ensure enhanced and
sustainable HIV/AIDS prevention and impact mitigation.
Its activities include, community mobilization,
networking meetings for Faith Based Organizations and groups, advocacy,
support to District, Community and Village AIDS Committees (DACC,
CAC, VAC) activities, support to youth clubs (peer education, life
and vocational skills training), support toHome-Based Care interventions,
Food and economic security interventions, psychosocial support (PSS)
interventions, support to Community Based Child Care Centres (CBCCs),
vocational skills training, vulnerable children education support, supporting VCT
centers with capacity building and purchasing of test kits, Capacity
building for HBCs, Orphan Care Groups, women groups, youth clubs
and other CBOs, advocacy and networking e.g. Plan supported Ministry
of Gender with funds for vulnerable children and ECCD policies and rights of the
Child campaigns through local meetings and training.
