CAMEROON
Started in 2003, HACI Cameroon is working with
the core partners: Plan Cameroon, SWAA, CARE and WCRP in implementing
programs targeting orphans and vulnerable children. The Initiative,
through the partners, supports educational, nutritional, psychosocial,
and training programs.
Plan is working with local NGOs and CBOs in three
provinces of Cameroon:Central , East and North-west; where it has
identified about 2500 orphans. Two CBO's in North-west province
have received sub-grants from Plan. Another particularity that need
to known is the implication of traditionnal chiefs on HACI implementing
programme, through their association named Fons Aingst Aids NGO.
For its part, SWAA is working in two areas near Yaounde, where it has
supported more than 200 vulnerable children, in addition to working
with Association des Femmes Actives et SOlidaires AFASO, an association
of people living with HIV/AIDS.
CARE, in partnership with the Association des Freres et Soeurs Unis
(AFSU) - a network of people living with HIV/IADS - has started
implementing HACI-supported programs in Far-North Province. Among
its core activities are counseling and vulnerable children identification and support.
At the national level, WCRP is working with faith-based organizations to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on communities and has reached 618 orphans and vulnerable children
